General Motors Critical Facility Standards

Filed under Markets: cases and Markets: Transportation

GM Worldwide Facilities Group needed a comprehensive corporate facility design standard covering all aspects of their manufacturing and non-manufacturing information technology enterprise. The critical environment had evolved to where engineers and designers were collaborating on new mopdel development across the globe and resulting in a true 7×24 environment. Reliable Resources senior staff met with 10 GM executives and engineers over a two day workshop to develop detailed goals and objectives. Over the next three months, the new GM Critical Facilities Standards document was created, published and distributed to all corporate stakeholders including suppliers, partners and professional service providers. The creation of the standard has streamlined data center operations and provided an objective means to commission and assess GM’s critical infrastructure.
