The services provided to Exodus included an assessment on overall flexibility, reliability and integrity of the data center as it relates to supporting their critical information technology environment.

The assessment included the following areas that were evaluated:

  • Location: A comprehensive assessment of the site, suitability of building orientation, and the risks associated with nearby hazards, whether man-made or natural.
  • Design: A complete review of the engineering systems design including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, structural, architectural, life safety systems, fire protection and alarm, security and communications infrastructure.
  • Documentation: A review of all related documents included evaluation of coordination, accuracy, and usability.
  • Utilization: The existing engineered systems were evaluated for redundant and non-redundant capacity, percentage of utilization, and future opportunity for expansion (capacity and redundancy).
  • Staffing: The maintenance and engineering staff with responsibility for facility operations and communications infrastructure were evaluated on the basis of knowledge of systems and standard maintenance practices, experience with similar facilities, and understanding of the systems design.
  • Reliability: The ability of each system and sub-system to remain operational during component failures were evaluated based on industry standard reliability criteria In addition, the condition of major equipment was assessed.
  • Operational Procedures: Existing Standard Operating Procedures were reviewed for applicability and suitability for maintaining the highest reliability possible.
  • Computerized Maintenance Management: The existing software utilized for tracking maintenance procedures, preparing work orders and preparing management reports was reviewed and evaluated on the basis of effective use, suitability for maintaining the highest reliability possible, and the skill of the staff utilizing the software.
